Celebrating an Icon- Garth Williams!

Posted on

The NCCIL’s newest exhibition Garth Williams: Illustrator of the Century opened to crowds of children and adults who came to admire his amazing artwork. What was a little unexpected was the emotional response that looking at Baby Animals or Charlotte’s Web evoked from all of the patrons. William’s career as a children’s book illustrator spans an impressive list of books that have been mainstays of children’s reading. Generations of readers have grown up with Stuart Little, Little House on the Prairie, Mister Dog and other Golden Book favorites and having the original artwork on the wall was nostalgic.

Among the opening events for Garth Williams was a talk by children’s book authority Leonard Marcus a the historic Paramount Theatre, and a dinner celebrating special guests- Marcus, Stephen Mooser, and the Williams family.
