The National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature enhances visual and verbal literacy by celebrating the best original art published in children’s literature.

Vision

We will:

• Honor the art of illustration and recognize the contribution of these artists.
• Educate children and families about illustrated literature.
• Provide programming that will increase appreciation of children’s books and the art in them.
• Provide visual and verbal literacy training for educators who inspire children.
• Establish a presence nationally through exhibition partners and other art institutions.
