The NCCIL Experience
Hello, Friends of the NCCIL!
What a successful series of events celebrating an exhibition of artwork from David Macaulay’s fascinating new book, THE WAY WE WORK: Getting to Know the Amazing Human Body! David endeared himself, once again, to Abilene and the NCCIL with his artistic brilliance and generous spirit. From classrooms to gallery events, David shared his wit and wisdom with hundreds of children of all ages and gave the human body we so often take for granted the focus and respect it deserves.
Given the unique merging of art and science in our gallery, I thought this a great opportunity to provide our supporters with a report on the Vital Signs of the NCCIL.
- You’ll be glad to know the temperature of the organization is a healthy 98.6 thanks to the warm hearts and cool heads of a talented staff of professionals; a dedicated, enthusiastic Board of Directors; passionate docents and volunteers; and a growing, thriving membership.
- The heartbeat of the NCCIL continues to be our award-winning illustrators and their extraordinary exhibitions. And a strong heartbeat it is, with future NCCIL artists and their exhibitions scheduled well into 2010, supported by a loyal family of former NCCIL exhibitors who are fast becoming our best referral sources.
- While Abilene, Texas, serves as the heart of the NCCIL and the starting point for every exhibition, there is a vital circulatory system that travels these locally produced exhibitions of the finest art in children’s illustrated literature to more than 50 venues nationwide. Strategic marketing to new venues has the potential to multiply this healthy heartbeat, both nationally and internationally. Yes, the NCCIL is currently responding to multiple requests for exhibitions to travel to venues abroad!
- The breath of the NCCIL is, of course, The NCCIL Experience itself. And I can assure you that breath continues to be deep and steady as thousands of children and families inhale the art on the walls, are inspired through personal interaction with visiting illustrators, and release their own personal expressions of inspiration through creative opportunities in the NCCIL Art Studio.
And now, The NCCIL Experience awaits you!
