Art Camps -- Summer 2012

We encourage children to spend time in our art studio putting their creative brains to work! NCCIL Art Camps are a premium educational experience for budding artists of all ages. Art supplies and daily snacks are included.

Camp Caldecott, Jr.

When: June 18 - June 22
Age: Entering Grade K and 1
Time: 9:00 - 12:00
Cost: $100
Instructor: Patty Rae Wellborn (NCCIL Art Educator, Artist and Art Teacher, St. John’s)

Have you ever wanted to illustrate your own picture book? If so, you would love Caldecott Camp! NCCIL art instructor, Patty Rae will take you on a daily journey through the award winning Caldecott books. You will explore a variety of art mediums as you create your own masterpieces inspired by the illustrations you see. After a yummy snack, you will take a guided tour across the way to the Abilene Public Library, where you will enjoy storytime with one of Abilene's best storytellers. Friday brings the grand finale! You and your new friends will have your very own art show and reception to show your fabulous artwork to your family!

Let NCCIL Art Educator PattyRae take you onto the journey of childhood’s best adventures: the Picture Books. Learn and experiment with different illustration styles in the NCCIL Art Studio. Paint your world with watercolor, decorate it with collages, and fill your world with caricatures! Camp out at Camp Caldecott!

Oh! Monet, Van, and Pablo come see Jackson splattering paint in the studio where Giuseppe is busy with his fruits and vegetables! Huh? Who are these people? What made them unique? Come explore the world of Old Master Artists at the NCCIL Art Studio.

Calling all nature and environment lovers to explore their creativity and gentler side! The NCCIL is bringing literature, art and nature together in this exciting and most sought after camp of 2010 & 2011. Learn and explore nature with the works of NCCIL artists while learning what it takes to be a Junior Master Gardener in Literature!
