"Torn Paper Cats"
Based on Cats are Cats
Materials:
Colored construction paper, glue, scissors (if you want to use them), crayons
Instructions:
Start with a piece of construction paper for your background. Cut or tear a large oval out of another piece of construction paper and glue this to your background. You have made a rug for your cat to play on. You may decorate the rug with different shapes you cut or tear out of other paper.
To begin your cat: Tear a medium-sized rectangle or oval out of the color you want to use for your cat’s body. Tear a circle out of the same color for your cat’s head. Tear 2 triangular shapes for ears. Tear a long curvy piece for the tail. Tear 4 smaller rectangles or ovals for your cat’s feet. Glue your cat down on top of the rug. Your cat may be sitting up or stretched out on the rug. You may add stripes or shapes to make your cat like a tiger or a calico cat. Add football or almond shaped eyes with circles in the middle for pupils. Add a triangle for a nose. Add some whiskers by coloring them or cutting thin lines of paper. You may want to make kittens, a food dish or a toy mouse for your beautiful cat to play with.
