"Pop-Up Gingerbread House"
Based on Cookie Count
Materials:
Brown paper (construction paper, paper bag, brown envelope), gel markers, scissors
Instructions:
Begin with a piece of brown paper approximately 9 x 12 inches. Fold the paper in half like a hamburger fold, not a hotdog fold. Make about a 3” cut on the fold. The length of the cut should be about 1/3 of the way from the edge of the paper. Make another 3” diagonal cut on the fold toward the center of the paper. This cut should be about 1/3 of the way from the opposite edge. Unfold the paper and push the cut out area towards you so that you have a pop up house shape. This will be your gingerbread house. Draw a door and windows. Decorate your house with candy shapes —gumdrop or jellybean shingles, peppermint stick shutters, gummy bear trees, skittles or m&m sidewalks, cotton candy clouds, etc. Use your imagination. The gel markers will show up well on the brown paper and look like bright, delicious candy colors!
